What is a Cane Corso?
The Cane Corso
("KAH-neh COR-soh") dog
is an ancient Italian molosser and direct descendant of the Canis
Pugnax. Its name derives from the Latin "cohors" that it means guardian,
protector. It has an athletic build and a solid, compact body with free-flowing
movement. The combination of its stable character, the absolute devotion to its
master and its adaptability to the environment are the reasons of the breed's
popularity and success. Historically, the dog was used to guard property and cattle,
to hunt large game and the protection of the family. It is a gentle, sociable
dog and easily trained to perform the duties for which it has been bred. It
is also known as the Cane Corso Italiano,
Cane Corso Mastiff, Cane di Macellaio, Italian Mastiff, Sicilian Branchiero. |

Better Breeders Bureau
As of
January 1, 2007, we have officially launched the CaneCorsoBBB.com, a website which provides Cane Corso
Mastiff owners the
opportunity to rate their breeder/kennel/puppy experience online for public
information. As the breed is
gaining popularity, the number of Cane Corso breeders and puppies for sale has also multiplied tremendously just
during the last few years. With so many different kennels that seem to be
popping up on the internet and countless more in newspaper classified ads, even
a cautious buyer can be easily stumped during their puppy search.
Since
referrals usually play a significant role in a buyer's decision-making process,
the Better Breeders Bureau is able to provide individual breeder feedback directly
from their buyers! Breeders who have "happy puppy owners" will
provide good references to prospective puppy buyers; these are the ones we hope
will continue their breeding program. Of course, even the best breeders may
have a few puppy owners that are not happy (for whatever reason), so viewers
shall
form their own conclusion based upon reading the feedback from ALL puppy owners.
It is the breeders who have negative feedback from the majority of their puppy
owners who we hope eventually fizzle out and disappear
entirely. Every single puppy owner can make a difference by sharing
their information and now that we have officially launched the website, our goal is to inform and encourage
everyone to submit their breeder/kennel feedback.
Cane Corso breeders, as an added
benefit to our CaneCorso.com Breeder
Membership, you will receive instant notification whenever someone
submits feedback about you. Otherwise, if you would like to receive
instant notification, we will set up this service in exchange for a
donation of your choice to either our Rescue Fund or Advertising Fund
We are working on a revising the current breeder
feedback form (this process will
delete any existing feedback on the page). All puppy owners that have submitted
breeder feedback will be notified via e-mail and offered the chance to re-submit
their feedback using the revised format. We thank everyone for their cooperation
and we feel that this revision will improve the Cane Corso BBB by offering
viewers the pertinent information needed in their breeder search!
